JKS in SG - My Fan Account w/ vid & pics [updated]

It’s April 27 @ 1:42 am now. I can’t sleep. I’m still updating myself on Sukkie pics, vids & news from all sites. I’ve been back home for just a few hours. Almost 5 days have passed since the start of my “SSSS Escapade” Sukkie & Seoul Sisters in Singapore Escapade. Very apt, don’t you think so? keke… It was one of the most fun & craziest times I’ve had in a long while. But my heart is heavy right now and I don’t know why. Missing Sukkie & the SS? A big possibility…

Okay, enough with that, this is a fan account for the SS and not a journal entry, right? *winks*

April 22 – Arrived in SG @ 5 pm but was able to go to Burger King @ T2 around 5:45 pm, where I was supposed to meet-up with Star, Ester & Rachel so we can check-in together, little did I know that Star haven’t read my email yet so they went ahead [I learned of this later]. After waiting for 1 hour, I decided to go and check in @ the hostel. I had to go back to the airport for Mei [Suka] & Mein and of course, to see if we can catch a glimpse of Sukkie when he arrives in SG  so I sent an sms to Taz asking if we’re going ahead with the plan and also if she can ask serene. It’s a GO! Yey! Met-up with Taz @ Eunos MRT Station. Serene caught up with us when we were about to go up to BK. First time meeting Serene in person. At last! keke…

The Arrival

Not long after that, I received an sms from Mei that a lot of eels are already waiting for Sukkie so what else to do? But run!!! hahaha… Received multiple sms from Mei to go to E24 but we can’t go in there. Lucky for her, shiro, tofu, and linda because since their flight was delayed, they can wait inside. They were waiting there with Maymay of Keunsukholic and other int’l eels. Was it fate? keke… Anyway, outside, taz, serene & I tried to find a good spot but it was mostly serene who ran around. Thank you sis  Since there were so many eels already, we had to make do. While waiting for Sukkie’s arrival, we took pics of the eels there & of course, us three. We waited for about an hour? [I’m not too sure how long we waited] Then, we knew Sukkie arrived already because of the what? Of the shrieks of the fans, of course!!! It was rising in crescendo the nearer he got until it turned into screams. I promised myself I wouldn’t scream because we all know Sukkie ain’t too happy about screaming eels, right? But as soon as I saw Keun Sama, that promise was forgotten! Even before I set eyes on Sukkie, I was screaming! We have, after all, managed to get good spots because he looked at us as we were waving at him and he smiled that ‘SMILE’ and waved back at us! OMG! As soon as he passed by us, we ran outside to see him get in a Silver Benz. We stood behind the car hoping he will look back but there were a bunch of eels who were not exactly pounding but tapping hard on his window and the driver was having a hard time getting out of there. A security had to restrain the eels. There were about 10 or more eels near his window. That was some welcome… So, that’s Sukkie’s arrival. I heard from others that before he went out, he stood near the glass windows and waved to the eels.

Here are some photos I took. Sorry! The blurred ones are photos I took of Sukkie :(

The 'fanfare' died down and we went back inside to wait for Mei @ BK. I was so excited for the meeting of some of the Seoul sisters in person. Waaahhh… Mei finally arrived! It was so good to finally see her in person  Hugs all around! Then it’s the live cbox with the four of us. Haha… Then, she gave us our shirts, showed our banner-cum-poster then discussion about the scrapbook. Mein will be arriving @ 12mn but Taz & Serene had to go home or else their parents will have their heads. Keke.. So, said goodbye to both of them with promises to see each other the following day, the Fan Signing Event @ IMM. Mei & I were like in the cbox, talked & laughed a lot while doing the finishing touches to the scrapbook.

More to come... Pls. wait for it :) Cri!

April 23 - Mein arrived @ 1 am. We stayed there ‘til 5:30 am. Believe it! Hahaha… Talked, laughed & worked like old friends!!! We had a great time  Went to the hostel @ 6 am to catch some sleep. Star, Ester, & Rachel were already there sleeping so no time for introductions. Sleep first! We woke up at 9:30. Had about 1 ½ hrs. of sleep. When introductions were over, we rushed to go to IMM but we had to wait for Dian so Star, Ester & Rachel went ahead.

As soon as Dian arrived, off we went to IMM. But we forgot to bring the banner-cum-poster so Mein & Dian had to go back to the hostel to get it while Mei & I looked @ the Garden Plaza where the Fan Signing was to be held. It was just noon but some eels were already there q-ing, sitting on the ground and I must say, I salute them! It was so hot & humid there, I don’t think I could’ve done what they did. Mei & I rushed back inside the mall because it was so hot outside and we decided to look around for supplies. We weren’t able to make a decision so we just decided to eat lunch first. Then went back to supplies hunting, Mein & Dian arrived after awhile. Got their opinion and finally bought the one thing we were missing. While they were eating their lunch, we got to work on the banner-cum-poster @ BK, again! Haha… Tada! Mama Kay finally arrived. Wheee! Chatting non-stop, of course! It felt like old friends and not online friends who were meeting-up for the first time. Then, serene called and told us that FM Goodies are being sold.

We rushed to the Garden Plaza and decided we’d better divide so that we can buy goodies and q also. Then, a surprise! Sears sent me an sms that she will be going to the Fan Signing event after all! Wheee! While we were waiting for her, we decided to change into our SS shirts. We took pics but I don’t know if they’re okay. keke… After a few mins., Sears finally arrived! *bows* to the boss... keke.. *Big hugs* for the Big boss :D She then changed into her SS shirt. Picture taking! Then we brought out our banners. It attracted a lot of attention, I must say. Of course, we were pleased with it.*winks* A girl holding a professional camera with an ID with Sukkie’s pic on it, either she’s from Tree J or Datzentertainment. Probably from Datz… She doesn’t look Korean. She asked us if she could take our picture with the banners. Of course, we said YES! Hahaha…

We waited… and waited… and waited then it rained!!! It was pouring so hard that we started to get wet. We thought that Sukkie will wait until the rain stops but after a while, he arrived amidst the screams of the eels, of course… How can someone be so handsome? Gaaahhh… Haiz! Anyway, 2 emcees were interviewing him. They were both talking in English @ first but the other emcee started to talk in Mandarin while the other translated it, I think. Sukkie was answering in English! Waaahhh… But after a while, I couldn’t understand what they were talking about because it was raining so hard, we were getting wet AND the venue was flooding! YES! Flooding!!! Thank God the scrapbook was wrapped in 2 plastic bags or else, I’d be dead by now. Killed by the SS… LOL! Then one by one, 5 eels were called onto the stage to take pics with Sukkie! How lucky were they? Then because maybe they felt the other eels were envious, they let Sukkie take a pic with all of the eels there. keke… Those particular pictures are posted everywhere, I think. One group pic!

Here's a photo Mama Kay took during the Fan Signing event:

After that, the Fan Signing started. Since the rain hasn’t stopped and the area is flooded, we decided to go to the back and wait for the Fan Signing to end AND for the “Chasing Sukkie” to start. LOL!

“Chasing Sukkie” [1st night]

As soon as the signal was given, we ran to the parking lot. All the while, asking where is Mama Kay? We were nervous that she will be left behind. We got to the van and waited for her. I can’t contact Mama Kay so I sent an sms to sears asking her to tell mama where we were. At last, they replied and said she’s on her way. Serene volunteered to get mama from the entrance. We breathed a sigh of relief! That was close! Haay… Now, we’re just waiting for Sukkie’s car to leave. There were 9 of us in the van. Linda, Mei, Mein, Serene, Mama, Dian, Maymay, Maymay’s friend [so sorry, I can’t remember her name] and moi. After a while, we started moving. The chase was on!

Since Sukkie’s car was not tinted, [Yeah! I know. What were they thinking?] You can clearly see inside. That’s good news for us  The vans were trying to get the closest to Sukkie, of course. Serene was able to see Sukkie inside the car when it happened to pass by on her side. I didn’t get to see him that time. After a while, we saw Sukkie’s car in front of Manna Korean Resto. He’s already inside. We took pics of the resto & the car. Then we decided to eat dinner as well.

A photo I took outside Manna Korean resto:

Mama Kay took this photo when Sukkie came out of the resto:

After dinner, we waited for him outside the resto with other eels  Mein was infront of the resto’s entrance and close to Sukkie’s car while Mama Kay, Serene, Mei & I were on the other side of the road facing the resto. It was a small street so it was still very close. He got out of the resto after an hour, I think. Mein, You weren’t able to take a good pic of Sukkie, right? He was right in front of you! keke.. Anyway, you’re forgiven ‘coz not one of us got a good pic when Sukkie was in front of us. So close! Argh… All blurred pics  Sorry, SS! Anyway, after he got in the car, we were rushing to our own vans and continuing with the chase.

This time, as we got close to his car, all of my other fellow eels except for Mei & me got their cams out. But as they were about to take pics, Keun Sama told us, no photos so, being good eels, they heeded the warning. Sukkie was sleeping! OMO! Such an adorable face  After a while, Keun Sama covered Sukkie with his jacket so we can’t see him. Our van’s driver decided to go to Ritz Carlton where Sukkie was staying and let us have good spots when he arrives. Good decision! We were standing near the hotel’s entrance when Sukkie’s car arrived. It took some time for him to go out. Mein, you were able to take a pic of him while inside the car, right? Where is it? *winks* At last, he got out! But there’s always that video man who’s always recording everything. I think Serene & Dian were recorded. I hope not me too! Hahaha… Sukkie proceeded to walk towards the entrance, haay… Speechless! So good looking! The eels all followed him inside but were stopped @ the elevator. keke… Then we just went outside to take pics with our banners. We all decided to go home.

Here's a vid and a photo that Mama Kay took when Sukkie arrived @ Ritz Carlton:

We all were dropped off @ the City Hall MRT Station. Went to our hostel, exhausted and dizzy because of lack of sleep but after taking our showers, refreshed, we were all talking non-stop and laughing! Star, Ester & Rachel were in a different van so they also shared their own encounters with Sukkie. After 2 hours, we felt the pull of the bed and decided to sleep. I wasn’t feeling that sleepy yet so I still worked on the scrapbook for awhile but went to sleep after 30 mins. LOL!

April 24 – Btw, I just remembered, when we were running inside the mall towards the parking lot after the fan sign, we saw Sukkie’s parents inside the mall, sitting. Mei stopped a few feet away from them and not being obvious, let them look @ our banner! Hahaha… Nice move, mei *winks*

We arrived @ Suntec around 10:30 am but we had to buy some stuff for the Sukkie gift box and also a gift for Keun Sama as well. We were rushing ‘coz we know how early eels were planning to queue. We ran to the Rock Auditorium and saw the queue has already snaked to the stairs until 2nd floor emergency exit, I think. We found a spot, a ‘lil corner on the 2nd floor emergency exit. At 11:30, I received an sms from sears asking where we were. We were only a few mins. ahead of her. Even in that hot and humid place, we were still having so much fun and taking pics left and right. LOL! We can really survive anywhere! A lot of eels keep on coming and two security men keep on checking the queue, after awhile, they decided to let the eels after us to queue outside the door and into the mall. BUT @ around 1 pm, the queue became chaotic and everyone was running towards the entrance to the Rock Auditorium. Ayyayyay! We don’t know what happened :( Anyway, we were able to queue not that far from the entrance so it’s still okay.

The FM goodies were being sold inside so a lot of eels keep on going in. We were all standing. After about an hour, the eels all decided to seat so we asked those behind us to move backwards because it’s gonna be a long wait. There were a lot of complaints and side comments but we had to seat, of course! It was only 2 pm. We can’t all stand that long. After we have all settled down, Mei & I decided to finish the scrapbook. Since we took pics of the FS yesterday, we all decided to put our pics in there as well so Sears and Mama went to have those pics developed and we also asked Serene who was still not there to have some pics developed as well. Suddenly, there were shrieks and shouts, we ran to see what it was all about. We saw Keun Sama near the entrance and so near! Mei! Waaahhh… SS, Mei and I are crushing on Keun Sama! hahaha… The eels in front said Sukkie took a peep from the curtains and smiled! We missed that. Oh well… We got back to our places. Serene arrived after awhile Sears & Mama came back as well. The pics will be developed in an hour so they’ll just get it later. So, we had to wait. The table for the FM goodies was taken outside. After an hour, we got the pics and started to work on the scrapbook. The Seoul Sisters were attracting a lot of attention. The video man who’s always accompanying Sukkie everywhere, he took a video of us, with the banners and scrapbook. He also asked us to flip the pages of the scrapbook and he recorded it up close. Waaahhh… I don’t want to know what he’s going to do with it or WHO he’s going to show it to!

A staff from Tree J who was selling FM goodies started singing in front of us. The eels cheered him on and applauded. Was it a prelude? hahaha… After awhile, the eels in front of us started to stand and run, so we followed suit. It was chaos! The time when we’re gonna see Sukkie perform is nearing! We were all pushed and squeezed! We were given star-shaped colored papers and asked to write our hp nos. Sukkie’s dad came out and started taking a video of the eels q-ing. He’s such a jolly person! Now, I know where Sukkie got his personality from. keke… Then we were given post-its to write our questions for Sukkie and stick it on a large cardboard. We saw some Korean eels put on pig-rabbit costumes. So cute!

Then the VIP ticket holders started to enter the auditorium. After awhile, it’s our turn, OMG! Every ‘lil step we took, we were pushed from behind! My back ached… All for Sukkie! Almost all of the security men were @ their limit. As one eel in front of us started to complain, the security man [I think, he’s the head], shouted @ her and said to her, “Just shut up”, among other things. It’s not fitting to write here. *winks* There were a lot of pushing until the end. Haiz… We were given a small card. It’s an electromagnetic wave shield with JKS’ imprint! I’m not going to use it. LOL!

At last, we’re inside! We got fairly good seats :) Since there are a lot of fan accounts of the actual FM, I’ll skip that part ‘coz it’s going to a longer fan account that it already is. keke...

I’ll just say this, we chose to love the right STAR

There are already a lot of FM pics so I'll not be posting anymore...

“Chasing Sukkie” [2nd night]

This night made it all worth it!!! :)

After the encore, we ran towards the van. People in Suntec were looking @ us like we were crazy. I wanted to tell them, YES! We’re crazy eels… LOL! We were in a different van. We waited for about 30 mins. then we were moving. I noticed there weren’t any other eels’ vans around us and I kept thinking, were we on the right direction? After 15 mins., we turned left, we were about to back out of the street when we saw a van which we thought was another eels’ van so we followed BUT lo and behold, the people who came out were security men and Sukkie’s coordi noona. Jackpot!

A black TINTED sedan followed and we rushed to it. It parked near the back entrance of Long Beach Resto. OMG! Keun Sama came out and of course, Sukkie! We were the only eels there. 8, to be exact. We called Keun Sama! He smiled and nodded then we said Hi to Sukkie. He was so close. He turned to us and nodded then said “Hi”, then he smiled the “SMILE”! OMG! Then as he was entering the resto, Mei called out, “Enjoy your food, Keun Suk”, he waved again. :)

We went inside the resto just to use the restroom, nothing more, guys *winks* We want Sukkie to enjoy his dinner in peace. The other vans arrived. We waited there for 3 hours, I think. We ate dinner as well. We got to congratulate Kit, the fan whose hp no. was the luckiest! keke… Mein and Serene talked to Sukkie’s driver. Serene found a treasure which you have to ask her about ‘coz I don’t think I can write it here. keke… A source said that Sukkie and company were already drinking beer inside Long Beach Resto. No confirmation but his coordi noona went out to get something from the van and came back in. His parents left first. Then after awhile, Sukkie came out with a mask on. We said Bye and he nodded and smiled  then got in the car. We rushed to our vans. Most of the eels who were there plan to go clubbing. Mei, Serene, Dian, Maymay, Maymay’s friend, and I decided to go home after following Sukkie to St. James.

A lot happened @ the club while Mei & I were @ the hostel. We learned of this through calls from Mein who were with the other eels @ the club but since I didn’t experience it first hand, I can’t write it here. Sorry :(

The Happiest Pill I received since starting this blog. Jang Keun Suk's Seoul Fan Meeting today. Even though I wasn't able to attend, I felt like I was there w/ my fellow eels and I have to thank Sears of http://lovesears.blogspot.com/ for making it possible and my seoul sisters particularly Kul who updated us via the CBox (her unni was @ the FM & she was sending sms & calling Kul every few minutes). We were in super fangirl mode the entire time and I think up to now, right sisters?! ***winks*** Thank you so much guys!!! See you @ the SG FM. ***fingers crossed***

I think it was very special for Sukkie as well. I wanted to cry too when a fellow eel that was @ the FM said and I quote, "He cried towards the end of the fanmeet, turned his back to go backstage...dropped on his knees and cried!! His voice also changed." I believe he was so overwhelmed and grateful to his eels. You deserve it, oppa and so much more! Congratulations Sukkie!!!

Brilliant Legacy/Shining Inheritance

Shining Inheritance (KDrama)

Summary from Wikipedia:

Go Eun Sung (Han Hyo Joo) was studying overseas in New York and she returned to Korea during her vacation to bring her autistic brother, Eun Woo, to the United States to study music. Sun-Woo Hwan (Lee Seung Gi), who was also studying in New York, was ordered to return to Korea by his grandmother, Jang Sook Ja, to learn how to manage her food company. Eun Sung and Hwan, who were on the same flight back home, accidentally had their luggage bags exchanged, which led to several misunderstandings between the two of them.

Go Pyung Joong, Eun Sung's father, struggled to save his company from going bankrupt. One day, his wallet and valuables were stolen by a thief who subsequently died in a gas explosion accident. The police, upon finding Go’s belongings on the thief, mistakenly identified the thief as Go and a death certificate for Go was promptly issued. Go decided to lie low and not tell his family that he was alive so that his family could claim his life insurance money and use it to clear the debts. However his second wife, Baek Sung Hee, kicked her stepchildren, Eun Sung and Eun Woo, out of the house after collecting the insurance money and moved into a new home with her daughter, Yoo Seung Mi.

Eun Sung asked for help from several of her friends, including her senior, Hyung Jin, who avoided her because she was no longer rich. She managed to find a job at a nightclub with the help from her friend, Hye Ri. At the nightclub, Eun Sung met Hyung Jin's senior, Park Joon Se (Bae Soo Bin), who was shocked to see her working there. She also met Hwan, who caused her to lose contact with Eun Woo. Realising that Eun Woo was missing, Eun Sung was devastated and tried searching for her brother but to no avail. With the help from Hye Ri and Joon Se, Eun Sung rented a small room and started a small dumplings stall while continuing her search for Eun Woo.

Meanwhile, Jang became deeply disappointed in Hwan as Hwan had no direction in life and did not know how to cherish her company and her employees. While pondering over what to do about her grandson, Jang visited a neighborhood that she used to live in when she was poor and encountered Eun Sung who was selling dumplings. Jang met with an accident and received help from Eun Sung. Jang, seeing that Eun Sung tried her best to take care of her even when she could not afford her own daily expenses, was touched by Eun Sung's compassion. Jang brought Eun Sung home and announced to her family that she was going to appoint Eun Sung as the heir of her food company...

***Modern Cinderella story at it's best! For those few people who haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend this drama. It focuses not only on love but tackles family relationships and one's philosophies or ideals about life.

Pros:

- Excellent direction
- Excellent writing
- Great acting by the whole cast (I can't even think of one actor/actress who didn't act well in this drama)
- I love the OST!

Cons:

- Common storyline but excellent delivery
- A few questions about the plot ("can it happen legally?" sort of questions)

Boys Over Flowers (KDrama)

Boys Over Flowers (KDrama)

Summary from Wikipedia:

While delivering a student's dry cleaning, Geum Jan Di saves the life of a student at the most prestigious school in South Korea. Her actions soon became public and exposed the bullying within the school. To silence the public's attention, Jan Di is offered a swimming scholarship to Shinhwa which she declines but her family forces her to attend.

During her first day at Shinhwa, Jan Di learns of the famous F4 and of the other students' adoration and fixation with the boys in the group. Gu Jun Pyo, Yoon Ji Hoo, So Yi Jung, and Song Woo Bin are the richest and most powerful kids within Shinhwa and South Korea. Subsequently, they use their power to terrorize weaker students or those they do not like. Jan Di, instead of being impressed, becomes enraged and fantasizes about confronting Gu Jun Pyo, the leader and initiator of many of the bullying acts. She gains courage to confront him when a friend , named Oh Min Ji , accidentally spills ice cream on his shoes and he demands the girl to lick it off. Jan Di defends her friend and attempts to reason with Jun Pyo's tyrannical demand. When he refuses to relent, Jan Di turns violent, knocking Jun Pyo to the ground. Engaged by this, Gu Jun Pyo declares war on Jan Di and encourages the other students to bully her. Jan Di, however, is resistant, refusing to apologize to Gu Jun Pyo, and stands by her decision to fight him.

Ironically, Gu Jun Pyo, having never been stood up to, begins to develop feelings for her. He tries unsuccessfully to woo her as she slowly begins to spend more time with Jun Pyo and his friends. Jan Di teaches Jun Pyo that money cannot buy everything and in order to have real friends, he himself must be real or use his heart, but Gu Jun Pyo still does not understand why someone like Jan Di should dislike him. As the story progresses, Jun Pyo falls deeper in love with Jan Di and she learns how to open herself to his love as well.

As love begins to blossom, Jun Pyo's mother discovers them and deems it unsuitable. She does everything in her power to keep the two apart, even arranging a marriage for Jun Pyo. The other F4 members and Jan Di's best friend, Chu GaEul try to make their relationship better. So Yi Jung and Song Woo Bin came up with a few plans but it fails. They left with no choice but to use the last plan. The plan is So Yi Jung have to make a fake date with Ga Eul. At first their plan is successful but because of Jun Pyo's mother the relationship between them is getting further again.

After the fake date, Ga Eul finds her self falling in love with So Yi Jung. So Yi Jung feels the same way, but he won't admit that he is falling for her. Other factors keep arising as another member of the group falls in love with Jan Di (which was Yoon Ji Hoo) and in a twist of fate, Jun Pyo loses his memory. A girl named Jang Yu Mi which was on the same hospital where Jun Pyo was confined, takes advantage on him to make him fall in love with her. Geum Jan Di never gives up for Jun Pyo to remember his love for her, she falls in the swimming pool letting Jun Pyo reminise his love for her. On Jan Di's graduation, Jun Pyo proposes to her on the cable car at the NamSan Tower where their first date was held. Gu Jun Pyo told Jan Di that he needs to study abroad to fix problems regarding Shinhwa. Jun Pyo asks Jan Di to accompany him as his wife but Jan Di refuses because she has also plans for her future becoming a doctor. The two agreed but Jan Di told Jun Pyo that she will be waiting for 4 years in one condition--if Jun Pyo comes back as a handsome and charming man.

The story ends with F4 four years later with each cast revealing happenings on their current life--Yi Jung coming back form Sweden for helding his art exhibit and visits Ga Eul to a kinder garten and she was surprised , Ji Hoo who just opened his Grandpa's clinic, Ga Eul who was teaching the art of pottery to preschoolers and Woo Bin becoming a happy man but his career was never mentioned in the story. Lastly, Geum Jan Di went to the beach to see Jun Pyo.He then proposes to Jan Di but the answer was still a question among viewers because when Jan Di was about to answer--Ji Hoo, Yi Jung and Woo Bin arrives saying that they object to the proposal because Jun Pyo and Jan Di didn't ask for their permission first....and they live peacefully.

***Who wouldn't want to watch the Korean version of Hana Yori Dango? With all the hype that surrounded it? Even if just to compare it with the Taiwanese and Japanese versions? Although, if I do say so myself, the Japanese version was way better, plot, script and direction wise.

Pros:

- Two thumbs-up for the props, set and wardrobe designers

- A bit on the shallow side, major eye candy (It doesn't hurt, right ladies?)

- Over-all, it was just fun to watch

- Nice OST

Cons:

- Let's just say, the viewers can tell it was rushed from the script to the production itself!

- I have read a lot of harsh reviews about BOF particularly about the acting of the the main leads (F4 & Geum Jan Di) but for me it was not that bad particularly LMH's acting

Worlds Within (KDrama)

Worlds Within (KDrama)

Summary from Hancinema:

Broadcasting station, especially television drama production, is often called as the core of desire and materialism. TV station is the place of envy for many people, but they also criticize it as the place where unethical thoughts are generalized. However, those who work in drama production team are not different from us; they are common people who need love and care just like others. Most of Korean dramas are focused on family problems and troubled relationships between lovers. However, for the moderners, workplace is where they spend most of their time. If one fails to build decent relationships with others in his workplace, it would be hard to read his life as a success. “Worlds Within” will bring out the stories of drama production staffs; the warm, touching stories of their love and life.

*** I don't know why this wasn't a hit maybe because it wasn't the usual drama wherein there is the thrill of first love or the "all-encompassing love" most of the other dramas have.

Pros:

- Excellent direction
- Good writing
- Good acting of the entire cast
- I love that I got to glimpse the fast-paced world of drama production
- I love the that the two main leads, Hyung Bin & Song Hye Kyo, got together in real life after filming this drama (we don't get to see that kind of thing happening often particularly in asian dramas)
- Realistic ^_^

Con (only one):

- Some scenes were dragging

Goong/Princess Hours (KDrama)

Goong/Princess Hours (KDrama)

Summary from Wikipedia:

Set in an alternate 21st-century reality where Korea possesses a royal family, since 1945 to present, this show revolves around the lives of the Crown Prince(Hwangtaeja) Yi Shin, and his new bride, Chae-kyeong. The depicted royal family in the show is modelled after the last royal family of Korea, which in reality reigned until the start of the Japanese Occupation in 1910 and was not reinstated after Japanese surrender in Second World War, 1945.

The series starts off with the news that the King, Shin's father, is very ill. With the grim outlook on the King's health, the royal family scrambles to find a wife for Shin, so as to allow him to take over the royal throne if the situation requires. Despite being in love with another girl, the ambitious and talented ballerina Hyo-rin whom Shin initially proposed to (she rejects him to pursue her ballet dreams), Shin eventually marries a commoner to whom he was betrothed by his late grandfather in an old agreement with the girl's grandfather. Shin marries the headstrong yet lovable Chae-kyeong after Hyo-rin's rejection. Despite initially feeling nothing for Chae-kyeong, love eventually blossoms between the couple.

In the meantime, however, matters are further complicated with the return of Yi Yul and his mother Lady Hwa-Young, who was once the Crown Princess (Bingoong) before the death of her husband, the late Crown Prince, older brother of the current King. Yul and his mother were chased out of the palace some time after the death of his father, and it is later revealed that this was due to the King's discovery of an affair between Yul's mother and the current King who was his father's younger brother. Yul's mother had returned with a sinister motive in mind; to restore her son back to the throne, which would have been his eventually, if his father had not died. A series of events befall the palace with the schemes Yul's mother carries out, and is further intensified by the various scandals involving the royal family, which are inclusive of the Shin's continuing relationship with his old flame Hyo-rin, and the budding love Yul develops for Chae-kyeong, his cousin's new-found bride.

***Fourth in my list. What interested me about this drama is the storyline. Who wouldn't want to be a princess, right? And have the haughty prince fall in love with you? It is every girl's dream. Also, the response to this drama was amazing!

Pros:

- Storyline's appeal
- The cinematography was amazing
- For newcomers, Joo Ji Hoon and Yoon Eun Hye, their acting was quite good (They won Best New Actor and Best New Actress, respectively)
- Great acting by the rest of the cast particularly Kim Hye-ja (the Queen Mother) and Yoon Yoo-seon (the Queen)

Cons:

- It started out great but by the second half of the drama, I was waiting for it to end already
- Some of the scenes were dragging and repetitive
- Shin Chae-kyeong (Yoon Eun Hye) was lovable and funny @ first but by the 2nd half of the drama, i thought to myself, what happened to her?

Coffee Prince (KDrama)

Summary from Wikipedia:

Choi Han Kyul, played by Gong Yoo, is the cocky son of a very rich family who runs a damaged food corporation. He doesn't believe in love and certainly doesn't want to get married despite his family's requests. On the other hand, Go Eun Chan, played by Yoon Eun Hye, is a 24-year old tomboyish female who gets mistaken as a guy quite often. She takes up every job possible — waitress, food deliverer, etc — and has the responsibility of taking care of her mother and younger sister. Eun Chan accidentally meets Han Kyul twice, once on a delivery and once during a robbery. During the robbery, Eun Chan's delivery motorcycle ends up being damaged. Han Kyul, not knowing that Eun Chan is actually a girl, decides to hire Eun Chan as a false "lover" so that he can escape the blind dates arranged by his grandmother. Meanwhile, Han Kyul's cousin, Choi Han Seong, is an established music producer and his ex-girlfriend Han Yoo Joo, who Han Kyul secretly loved for nine years, is a famous artist who studied in New York. The two were lovers for about 8 years but their relationship ended when Yoo Joo broke up with Han Seong. Two years after they separated their paths cross again when Yoo Joo returns to Seoul.

After getting an ultimatum from his grandmother, Han Kyul takes over a run-down severely damaged old coffee shop, later renamed Coffee Prince, to prove his ability, both to his grandmother and Yoo Joo. In order to attract female customers, he only hires good looking male employees. In a struggle with money, Eun Chan, whom Han Kyul has already mistaken as a boy, hides her gender identity to get a job at Coffee Prince. Soon feelings start to spark between Eun Chan and Han Kyul. Because he's unaware that Eun Chan is a girl, Han Kyul starts to question his sexuality.

***Third in my list of favorite asian dramas, tied with You're Beautiful and not because of the similar story line, "girl pretending to be a boy", but because I can't decide which one i like better. I think Jang Geun Suk has a lot to do with my indecision... keke...

Pros:

- Hands down the best acting of two leads in a Kdrama, Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye particularly Gong Yoo. Great work! (both won Best Actor & Best Actress, respectively)
- Excellent acting of the supporting cast, I love their chemistry
- Excellent direction (won Best Drama of 2007)
- Excellent writing
- Great OST

Cons:

- Same old story line (thankful for the wonderful script and great director)
- Same with You're Beautiful, a question persisted in my head, "How can Han Kyul not notice Eun Chan is a girl?
- I was not satisfied with the ending. It left me hanging.
SPOILER ALERT: (for those few people who haven't watched it yet)
It seemed Eun Chan doesn't want to get married (scene inside the car when she arrived after 2 years) or were they setting it up for The 2nd Shop of Coffee Prince that didn't materialize?

You're Beautiful (KDrama)

You're Beautiful (KDrama)

Summary from Wikipedia:

Go Mi Nyu is a sister-in-training. When her identical twin brother Go Mi Nam was reported to be in the United States having surgery to fix his previous plastic surgery effort, she was approached by the Manager of the singing band A.N.JELL to pose as Mi Nam for the time being that he is away. Mi Nam had just recently been accepted by the President of A.N.JELL to join the group. Against her wish, Mi Nyu accepts after remembering why her brother wanted to be a singer in the first place (to find their mom). Now posing as Mi Nam, Mi Nyu enters the group A.N.JELL and meets the members: Hwang Tae Kyung, Kang Shin Woo, and Jeremy. Initially disliked by Tae Kyung, the group's leader and composer, Mi Nyu later falls in love with him and finds herself being entangled in a love triangle between him and Shin Woo, while Jeremy harbors a one-sided love for her. Additionally, Mi Nyu finds herself being rivaled against Yoo He Yi, an actress who also has feelings for Tae Kyung.

***Third in my Best Asian Dramas list!!! (Tied with Coffee Prince) My current obsession: Jang Geun Suk and You're Beautiful. Obsessed more with the former, of course. Shoot! I can't think of anything to write because I'm still experiencing withdrawal symptoms. IT IS EXCELLENT!!! You have to watch it, trust me.

Pros:

- Excellent writing (as can be expected from the Hong sisters)
- Excellent acting by the cast especially by the two leads (Jang Geun Suk & Park Shin Hye)
- Good direction even though at times, a bit over the top
- I love the comedic factor (just right)
- I liked the transitions & continuity
- Good cinematography
- Nice OST

Cons:

- Just a bit sceptical about the whole 'Mi Nyu is Mi Nam' thing since it is obvious Mi Nyu is a girl with the singing voice and all...
- The story line is a bit exhausted but still good @ the execution
- Since they are in a band, i expected more from the OST but they still delivered even though
somewhat lacking

It Started With A Kiss (TDrama)

It Started With A Kiss (TDrama)

Summary from Wikipedia:

Yuan Xiang Qin (Ariel Lin) is a bumbling, naïve, but optimistic high school girl. Ever since she met Jiang Zhi Shu (Joe Cheng) at the freshman orientation, she's been in love with the genius with an IQ of 200. After two years of having a crush on him, she finally musters the courage to confess her love to him at school with a love letter. Zhi Shu is not impressed, and Xiang Qin is left humiliated publicly in front of their entire school.

That afternoon, the new house she has just moved into with her father collapses in a minor earthquake. She and her father are instantly left homeless because they lacked the foresight to pay for earthquake insurance. Fortunately, her father's old college friend extends a helping hand and invites both of them to live at his house. Little does Xiang Qin know that the kind Uncle Li is actually the father of Jiang Zhi Shu.

Because of this unexpected turn of events, Zhi Shu and Xiang Qin begin living their lives under the same roof. Zhi Shu's mother aspires to bring them together, coaxing Zhi Shu into tutoring Xiang Qin and taking numerous pictures of the couple together. Zhi Shu remains cold towards Xiang Qin, however, thinking her to be one of the dumbest people he has ever met, and refuses to speak to her at school. Through the course of the series, Zhi Shu slowly warms up to Xiang Qin, who tries her hardest to do better in school for him, as they deal with romantic rivals, their futures, and their relationship.

***Second Best Asian Drama for me!!! Even though this is the first of the series, the sequel is better for me but I'm loving this one for it shows how their love started. It makes you understand and appreciate more They Kiss Again, the second installment. This will be the deciding factor, either you'll love the series (ISWAK & TKA) or hate it.

Pros:

- The family dynamics in this installment was the deciding factor for me. I loved it!
- Great direction
- Excellent acting by Ariel Lin endearing Xiang Qin to us (a somewhat impossible feat, in my opinion but she succeeded)
- Awesome OST!!!

Cons:

- Very long series (30 episodes total)
- Somewhat mediocre acting by some of the cast
- Some scenes made me think ERM... RELEVANCE PLS.??? (3 scenes @ the most)

They Kiss Again (TDrama)

They Kiss Again (TDrama)

Summary from Wikipedia:

It Started With a Kiss ended with odd couple Zhi Shu (Joe Cheng) and Xiang Qin (Ariel Lin) getting married in characteristically comical fashion, and the sequel picks up the story right away with their honeymoon and married life. Xiang Qin is as ham-fisted as ever, creating many funny situations as she learns the ropes of being a wife and tries hard to become a good nurse and work alongside her genius husband. Aspiring doctor Zhi Shu meets some obstacles at school when he encounters both academic and romantic rivals who are determined to overrule him. The pressure of balancing marriage, work, and school often leads to mistakes and misunderstandings, and Zhi Shu and Xiang Qin soon learn that marrying young isn't all it's cracked up to be.

As Zhi Shu and Xiang Qin struggle with their professional ambitions, they also struggle with their personal relationship. Many times, Zhi Shu's coldness and harshness drives Xiang Qin to tears and she tries to run away. Zhi Shu himself tries to push Xiang Qin to higher ambition and making a life for herself. Zhi Shu soon learns to love Xiang Qin and forgive her bumbling ways, and Xiang Qin tries harder to become a better wife and nurse to her husband.

Zhi Shu and Xiang Qin are not the only ones having problems with their relationship. Xiang Qin's childhood friend Ah Jin (Jiro Wang) deals with the affections of Christine, an English exchange student who latches onto him against his will. Xiang Qin's friend, Chun Mei (Petty Yang), gets pregnant by her boyfriend, Ah Bu (Aaron Yan), but his wealthy, highbrow mother is desperate to keep them apart. Zhi Shu's younger brother Yu Shu (Zhang Bo Han) deals with his own first love and their story remarkably resembles that of Zhi Shu and Xiang Qin.

***For me, They Kiss Again is the best Asian Drama of all-time!!! Other dramas I have watched pale in comparison. This is the sequel to It Started With A Kiss which is my second favorite drama. I don't know if I should do a review of ISWAK first since it all started with ISWAK (get it?! it all started with It Started With A Kiss... hmmm... never mind) but TKA is IT for me.

Pros:

- The chemistry of Joe Cheng and Ariel Lin onscreen is unbeatable.
- Two thumbs-up for Joe Cheng and Ariel Lin's acting (she won Best Actress @ The Golden Bell Awards for her role as Xiang Qin).
- The family dynamics is to die for. Kudos to the supporting actors & actresses. Jiang Mama, you're the best!
- *Bows* to the director... no need for words.

Con [only one]:

- Honestly, when I first started watching ISWAK (the prequel), I couldn't stomach Xiang Qin's stupid, idiotic ways or whatever you call it so I stopped watching it but I tried again because the reviews were so good. Boy, am I glad! And that is her character. Only Ariel Lin can endear Xiang Qin to us. I can't imagine another actress pulling it off.

Asian Dramas

I have always been watching movies and dramas (or series as i've always called them) since I was a kid. Hollywood movies and series have always filled my time. I was so into murder mysteries and true crime stories but these days, or should I say, months, I have been addicted to asian dramas. Korean, Taiwanese and Japanese ones, to be exact.

The one who influenced me is my best friend. She told me to watch one particular Korean movie and by the end of it, I was hooked. I find asian dramas more interesting. They let their audience become part of the drama that's why when a particular drama I've been watching comes to an end, I'd feel sad because it feels like an important part of my everyday life comes to an end too. They just know how to tickle my funny bone or to let my tears flow. And because of this addiction to asian dramas, I have not watched one Hollywood movie or series for the past 7 months with one exception, of course, The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

When I first started getting interested in asian dramas, I watched online but i wanted to have a dvd collection of my favorite ones so that I can watch them again and again so i started buying dvds w/ english subtitles. Now, i prefer watching these dramas on dvds, even the ones I haven't watched yet.

And since I have watched a considerable amount of asian dramas already and I still remember my predicament when I was searching for other dramas to watch, I found it hard to choose one because there were not a lot of reviews or recommendations to be found about asian dramas (that i know of). So for my fellow asian-drama addicts, particularly the ones who have just found out about their addiction, I wanted to share my views on some asian dramas I have watched and loved.

I'll be posting my views on one asian drama per blog in the coming days...

The Twilight Saga

So far, my obsession with The Twilight Saga has been, shall we say, the most expensive, far reaching [in terms of time and after-effects?] but it is still the one closest to my heart [it got me through the worst period in my life AND because of it, i met some of my closest friends ^_^].

My fascination with it started @ around a year and a half ago. I was still busy with my online shop over at multiply when i chanced upon a poster of the Twilight movie. At first, I thought it was for The Twilight Zone [yes, you can laugh here] haay... but I saw post after post of it and it made me curious. What is the hype all about?

I downloaded the complete set of e-books and my obsession over it began. I began collecting Official & Twilight-inspired merchandise over the net.

See my collection HERE.

People with the same obsession er, i mean, interests do bond together and
after tons of personal messages, texts and chats, we decided to meet-up.
And it was one of the best decisions I ever made. We call ourselves the Twibellas [cute???]. I met my bestfriend and closest friends.

View our mini-convention HERE.

And now, we are closer than ever. We talk about anything and everything. We meet-up, exchange text messages and, of course, chat!!! Thank you, Twibellas ^_^

I just wanted to share this life-changing obsession with you guys and I hope you also get to meet your "Twibellas".
